to the main road and the trained nullah which drains the hill

behind. A reserve of seventy feet has been left between the site

and the nullah on low ground for building.

I am satisfied that the site could not be

used for ordinary building purposes, and I consider that it would be of advantage to the community to let the Roman Catholic Mission have it for a chapel.

the following terms:-

I recommend that the land should be leased on

(a). Teria of lease 75 years.

(b). No premium.

(c). Crown Rent 81 a year.

(d). Except with the consent of the Governor-in-Council,

which must be previously obtained, the lot is to be used only "for the erection of a chapel for the

Roman Catholic Community residing in Shaukiwan and a residence for the Priest or Priests assigned to

the District". In the event of this condition

being infringed, the lot with all improvements to

revert unconditionally to the Government.

(e). The lessee, within 12 months from the date of the

lease to form the whole area of the lot to such

levels as the Director of Public Works may approve

and to his satisfaction.

(f). The lessee to expend a sum of not less than

$10,000 on buildings within 24 months of the date

of the lease.

(g). The lessee to defray the cost of connecting any

drains from the lot to the Public Sewer; the work

to be carried out by the Fublic Works Department. Any sun certified by the Director of Public Works as due to be paid within 7 days of the date of a. certificate signed by the Director of Public Works. (h). A right-of-way to the lot to be rented to the

lessee from the Shaukiwan Road or other road in
